Yoga Informed Social Workers
Integrating Mind, Body, And Spirit
Our Mission
The mission of Yoga Informed Social Workers is to increase awareness and expand the knowledge of Social Work professionals in using Mind-Body-Spirit practices for self-care.
We aim to educate Social Workers and Human Service Professionals on how the use of Yoga practices have been known to help improve self-regulation skills, stress management skills, and increase a sense of joy in living.
Yoga has much wisdom to inform the Social Work profession in understanding the Mind-Body-Spirit connection which can assist us in addressing the needs of the WHOLE “person in the environment.”
Why Does Yoga Work?
“Yoga fosters experiential presence, allows clients to focus on bodily cues, provides an opportunity for clients to exercise choice, bestows a sense of self-efficacy and empowerment over one’s own body, thoughts and actions.” (Society for Psychotherapy)
